Privacy Policy
This policy explains what happens to your information when you use stackvanehq.com. It is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, email hello@stackvanehq.com and we will answer plainly.
Who We Are
StackVane HQ builds software solutions for businesses worldwide, including WordPress plugins, Divi modules, websites, APIs and mobile applications. For anything you send through this site, we are the party responsible for that information. Contact: hello@stackvanehq.com.
What We Collect
When you submit the contact form, we receive:
- Your name
- Your email address
- The project type you select
- The budget range you select, if you choose to give one
- The project details you write
From the mailing list form, on this site's homepage or on a product page:
- Your email address
- The time of your submission and the form you used. Connection IPs are used for spam prevention and may be sent to the mailing-list provider
Nothing on this site asks for a password, a payment card, an address or a phone number, and there is no account to create.
Separately, our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for every visit to every website they host. That is a normal part of running a web server and is used for security and diagnostics.
Why We Collect It
Enquiries: to read what you sent and reply to it, and if it turns into a project, to carry out the work you have asked for.
Mailing list: to send you the occasional email you asked for, and nothing else. Subscribing does not put you on any other list, and an enquiry never adds you to the mailing list. The two are separate and you have to ask for each one.
That is the whole purpose in both cases. We do not build marketing profiles and we do not sell or rent your details to anyone, ever.
Where It Goes
Contact enquiries are emailed to us and a backup record is stored in a file on our server, including the submission time and connection IP, so an email delivery problem does not lose your enquiry. The parties involved are:
- Our hosting provider, which runs the server that receives the form and relays the email.
- Google, which supplies the reCAPTCHA anti-spam check described below, and our email service provider, which is where enquiries are read.
The mailing list is handled by Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.), which stores subscriber addresses and sends the emails. Your address is also kept in a file on our own server, so that we hold the list ourselves and are not dependent on one provider. The provider may process data internationally; details are described in the Intuit privacy statement.
Nothing from Mailchimp runs in your browser. Your address is passed to them from our server after you submit the form, so reading this site, or the page the form sits on, tells them nothing about you.
We do not pass your information to anyone else unless you ask us to, or unless we are legally required to.
reCAPTCHA and Cookies
The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA v2, which is what stops automated spam from flooding the inbox. To decide whether you are a person, reCAPTCHA collects device and usage information and sets its own cookies. Its use is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and Google Terms of Service. reCAPTCHA is loaded only when you scroll near the contact form, so if you never reach it, it never loads.
This site loads Google Analytics to measure visits and interactions. It can collect browser, device and page-use information and use cookies. Google handles that information under its privacy policy linked above. Product pages can also load embedded YouTube videos when you choose to play them. Fonts are served from our own server.
How Long We Keep It
Enquiry emails and server backup records are kept for as long as they are useful to the working relationship: through the conversation, through any project that follows, and for a reasonable period afterwards for support and record-keeping. If an enquiry goes nowhere, it gets cleared out in the normal course of tidying the inbox.
Mailing list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, one click takes you off, and we then remove the address from our own copy of the list as well.
Your Rights
You can ask us at any time to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email hello@stackvanehq.com from the address you contacted us with and we will action it. There is no charge and no form to fill in. Deletion requests are honoured unless we are required to keep something for legal or accounting reasons, in which case we will say so.
Depending on the laws that apply to you, you may have additional rights, including the right to complain to a relevant data protection authority.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, form submissions are validated and sanitised on the server, and the endpoint is protected by both a hidden honeypot field and reCAPTCHA. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we do not ask for sensitive information through this site in the first place.
Children
This is a business-to-business site. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to This Policy
